Summer in Italy beckons

Morning Italian classes – Carefree afternoons on the beach!

Summer in Italy beckonsWhat could be more splendid than to be able to have an Italian class one moment, and to be sunbathing and swimming in the crystal- clear waters of the Mediterranean, the next? It sounds too good to be true but studying Italian at the Piccola Università Italiana in Tropea, Calabria is, indeed, a dream come true. Sun worshippers find the white, sandy beaches and warm sea irresistible. Thanks to the volcanic activity on the nearby island of Stromboli, the seawater takes on a light turquoise hue, boasts abundant marine life and together with the white sandy beaches, you might mistakenly think you were in the Caribbean. But, it is not the Caribbean, it is southern Italy, where in addition to the incomparable natural delights, those wishing to learn Italian, for personal or profession reasons, will find the Piccola Università Italiana, an exceptional, Ministry accredited Italian language school. Our teachers, all university graduates in Italian literature or language and native Italian speakers, offer courses unrivalled in their excellence. They are experts in “second” language instruction and use current teaching methodologies and relevant teaching materials and resources.

Where else in Italy can you leave the classroom with a towel over your shoulder and bask on the beachfive minutes later? While lazily floating in the calm water you can mull over that day’s grammar lesson, later gather on the beach with new friends from all over the world, and practice your new skills, the common language now being Italian.

You will have many opportunities to converse in Italian because Tropea is a slice of “real” Italy. The general populace tends to be unilingual and therefore you will be compelled to speak Italian. Though it is possible to study Italianelsewhere in Italy, between your studies at the school and the nature of our community, you will be totally immersed in the Italian language and southern Italian culture. There is no better way to become proficient in a new language!

Even during the August high season, when the Corso teams with tourists, gelato in hand, Tropea never loses its small town charm. No matter what time of the year you visit Tropea, it is a very special seaside town and the perfect place for a one-of-a-kind combination language/study holiday, one worth repeating. And that is just what most of our students do!
